Fisher & Paykel implements OrderWare from Genie Systems in United States B2B e-business portal
OrderWare chosen over more expensive solutions due to flexibility and ease of integration
AUCKLAND ¡V 27 February 2001 ¡V New Zealand e-Commerce software development company, Genie Systems Limited, today announced the adoption of its flagship e-business software system, OrderWare, by Fisher & Paykel Appliances Ltd. Fisher & Paykel has implemented OrderWare within the company¡¦s B2B ¡¥DealerNet¡¦ portal, which allows US dealers to purchase Fisher & Paykel goods online direct from New Zealand. OrderWare is delivered to Fisher & Paykel through the Unisys ASP.
Now in phase two, Fisher & Paykel first implemented OrderWare in November 2000 within the DealerNet pilot which involved five dealers located on the West Coast of the United States. DealerNet has since been extended to ten dealers and Fisher & Paykel aims to offer all American dealers the opportunity to connect to the portal.
¡§We looked at a number of more expensive options, but Genie Systems¡¦ OrderWare on the Unisys ASP was the best fit for Fisher & Paykel,¡¨ explains Ian Cooper, Global Marketing Services Manager, Fisher & Paykel Appliances. ¡§OrderWare on the Unisys ASP offers us the flexibility of outsourcing and the robustness of delivery with a low risk entry to e-business. It integrates easily into any e-Marketplace, which is critical in the United States as dealers are consolidated into key buying groups. And furthermore, our American dealers have been impressed by OrderWare, which compares favourably with other systems in North America.¡¨
¡§OrderWare allows us to fully automate responses to information requests from dealers, which may involve invoices, credits, part descriptions, prices, volumes and availability. The automation frees up our sales staff who no longer deal with these time consuming requests, and the company achieves major operational efficiencies as a result,¡¨ says Mr Cooper.
¡§The implementation of OrderWare by Fisher & Paykel further underlines our ability to implement and operate highly complex e-business distribution systems throughout the world,¡¨ explains Genie Systems Australasian General Manager, Nigel Varcoe. ¡§The success with Fisher & Paykel Appliances follows on from OrderWare¡¦s major success internationally with sales to clients such as Toys ¡¥R¡¦ Us in the United States and the Singaporean ship-building conglomerate, Keppel FELS. We envisage continued growth in all our key markets as mainstream corporations are now seriously considering the e-Commerce options. It¡¦s no longer just a Dot.Com phenomenon.¡¨
