eForSale Press Release – 22 November 2000
eBusiness Made Easy
There has been too much talk of “the knowledge economy” and New Zealand’s need to compete globally by taking advantage
of new technology. Fortunately the commentary from industry-watchers and the vision of government is now making way for
actual products and services. Following this trend eForSale Limited has released their eD.I.Y. package, an easy to use
yet powerful e-commerce product that enables businesses of all types and sizes to implement effective on-line trading.
“Our focus has been to create a flexible and comprehensive platform for business web sites that anyone with a PC can use
to sell product on the Internet,” says Technical Director of eForSale, Michael Glaser. “We’ve removed the technical
challenges and expense from establishing a functional business on-line.”
Auckland businessman Stephen Power is Financial Director of eForSale. His experience of owning and managing a number of
import and distribution businesses naturally led him to identify the huge potential of the Internet for businesses and
consumers. Power’s early attempts to move his businesses on-line met numerous obstacles. “If you don’t have $100,000 for
an integrated e-commerce platform linked to your back-end accounting and inventory systems, you’re committed to costly
ongoing revisions or doing it yourself. So I decided to make D.I.Y. a practical reality.”
Six months later after forming eForSale with Glaser and two other collaborators, purchasing the rights to a leading edge
Christchurch developed e-commerce engine and investing six months hard work, Power is very excited to release the
eD.I.Y. solution. “Its everything I had hoped for; easy to learn, fast and reliable to use and very competitively
priced.”
The eD.I.Y. package allows a computer user without previous web and Internet experience to configure and manage a fully
featured web site. The web site they create has full e-commerce capability for both business to business and business to
customer sales. The package includes a web site with shopping cart, credit card processing, order management, a fast
product search engine, tools to add and remove products, change prices and manage customers and graphical images.
Hon Paul Swain, Minister of Information Technology, Commerce & Communications said at the recent E-Commerce Summit "New Zealand will be world class in embracing electronic commerce
for competitive advantage." It is exciting to see usable solutions being released already that help to fulfill that
promise. For more information visit www.ediy.co.nz or e-mail: info@ediy.co.nz.
