CLEAR offers web tool to raise search engine profile
CLEAR has launched a web tool promising to raise web sites' search engine profiles, ensuring a top-20 listing on popular local and international search sites.
Rush Hour, provided by Altatude Web Marketing, is a search engine placement service, which ensures a top-ranking listing. It analyses the algorithms or formulas used by search engines to rank sites and then optimises a web site and its infrastructure to suit.
CLEAR Net will market the product on its web site, www.clear.net.nz, and through its web hosting division. CLEAR customers who host their web site with CLEAR Net will now be able to ensure their target audience - either in New Zealand or overseas - sees it.
"Building a web site is one thing. Getting anyone to see it is quite another," says Altatude partner Phillip Head.
Research shows that more than 85 per cent of all web user sessions start with a search engine and that users rarely go past the first 30 search results, he says. In fact, the top thirty results receive more than 90 per cent of the search traffic.
The Rush Hour introductory package, called Kiwipack, promises a top 20 listing on the Search New Zealand, Web Search and Alta Vista search engines. The set-up fee is $213.75, plus $33.75 a month to ensure that the site does not fall out of the top 20 on the chosen search engines. Users can add other search engines as desired, with a corresponding increase in the set-up cost and monthly fee.
CLEAR Communications Web Hosting Manager Craig Tikao says the cost of using the tool can be recovered quickly through the increased traffic going to a web site.
Mr Tikao says without marketing, a web site will go unnoticed. "It's like opening a store on the main street, then blacking out the windows so that no one can see you have great products and services inside," he says.
"Unless you take into account the bricks and mortar principles of marketing, then your web site is really not going to work."
