Peoplesoft Launches Pioneering E-Learning Centre To Organisations Across New Zealand And Australia
PeopleSoft Education using web technologies to deliver training at
Internet speed
AUCKLAND, November 14, 2000 – PeopleSoft, a worldwide leader in eBusiness applications, today announced the launch of
the PeopleSoft Knowledge Centre, an Internet-based e-learning service for organisations across New Zealand and
Australia.
The PeopleSoft Knowledge Center offers an e-learning service that enables customers to learn and develop PeopleSoft
skills at their own pace when and where it suits them via the Internet.
Initially PeopleSoft is launching a range of self-paced, web-based multimedia courses called ‘Skills on Demand’ that
will be available on a ‘pay-per-use’ basis. A range of over 100 courses is already available, covering PeopleSoft 8,
PeopleSoft 7.5, PeopleSoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and related third-party courses, such as Visual Basic,
HTML, Internet, networking and SQL Server. The range of titles will expand rapidly and the service will be extended in
the next year to include live webcasts and the development of a training portal.
Kate Gunn, PeopleSoft’s Education Services Manager for New Zealand and Australia, commented on the launch of the
Knowledge Centre, “The PeopleSoft Knowledge Centre allows people to stay ahead by acquiring all the latest technical
knowledge whenever they need it. The courses will enhance people’s knowledge of PeopleSoft’s eBusiness applications,
enabling them to deploy and use them more quickly and effectively.”
PeopleSoft is offering a package starting at $A5,000 (plus GST) which includes approximately 20 course registrations.
The service is sold on a pre-paid basis, with an average course costing in the region of $100 or less. With no extra
costs for travel or accommodation, the PeopleSoft Knowledge Centre offers an extremely cost-effective form of training.
PeopleSoft is also providing some free trial courses.
In addition to this launch, a new form of tutorial is being introduced – the ‘Live Web Cast’. An instructor in a
PeopleSoft studio will be linked with students in remote locations ‘live’ and interactively – truly a classroom on the
web. This will give all customers, wherever they are, access to the latest information and skills via concise, tightly
focused webcast sessions.
Stewart Gibbs, New Zealand Manager, PeopleSoft said the Knowledge Centre enhances the future of training and support by
providing a dynamic and economic extension to traditional teaching methods. “PeopleSoft’s online e-learning offerings
are an effective way for anybody, at any time, in any place to keep their PeopleSoft skills up-to-date”.
Last year PeopleSoft trained over 90,000 people and results from a PeopleSoft survey concluded that 97% of the customers
were either ‘satisfied’ or ‘very satisfied’ with the training received.
