Software-Driven Vending Machine Innovator Strengthens Board
Auckland – 28 September 2000 – Auckland based Vending Technologies Ltd, the leading supplier and operator of electronically enhanced “smart” vending machines in New Zealand and Australia, has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Coutts to its board as a director.
Ms Coutts is a full time company director and sits on the board of a number of public and private companies. Ms Coutts’s directorships include Air New Zealand Ltd, Viking Pacific Holdings Ltd, the Earthquake Commission, Worley Group Ltd, the Health Funding Authority, Pharmaceutical Management Agency Ltd, Industrial Research Ltd and New Zealand Tennis Inc.
Her appointment comes at a time of very strong growth for the company which has developed world-leading software that enables instant online tracking of vending machines by home bases. This technology allows for continuous monitoring of products sales and the cash status of each machine.
Welcoming Ms Coutts’s appointment, chairman Richard Janes said: “Vending Technologies Ltd is a growth company. We are delighted to have secured Liz for this pivotal role. She has proven credentials and business acumen for managing the profitable growth which will add significant value.
“The board looks forward to working with her to position Vending Technologies Ltd as the growth leader in electronically enhanced vending machines throughout New Zealand and Australia.”
Appointed chairman earlier this year, Mr Janes is a full time company director with over 25 years experience in international brand marketing. He is currently chairman of Wools of New Zealand Ltd and Ocean Design Group Ltd. His directorships include Land Corporation Ltd, Kapiti Cheeses Ltd, Pinot Noir 2001 Ltd, New Zealand Tennis Inc and Gallagher Group Ltd.
Mr Janes has held a number of strategic senior management positions, most recently as chief executive of the New Zealand Game Industry Board from 1991 to 1996. In this role he developed and implemented a successful industry strategic marketing programme, including the Cervena brand initiative. Prior to this, he worked for the International Wool Secretariat from 1981 to 1991, as the London-based Director of International Marketing from 1985 to 1991.
Ms Coutts has previously held a number of senior management positions including Chief Executive of the Caxton Group and Carters, the building supplies division of Carter Holt Harvey Ltd.
Ms Coutts says she is looking forward to working with the Board to ensure key milestones are met in the company’s expansion activities. “Vending Technologies is positioning itself to be at the forefront of exponential growth now occurring in the supply and management of electronic vending machines.
“I look forward to working with the Board to leverage the company’s existing technology, marketing and logistics capabilities to grow sustainable capital returns that will drive future growth.”
