INTEL TARGETS INTEGRATORS & RESELLERS WITH E-BUSINESS SERVER PROGRAM
Goal is to Educate and Enable System Integrators and Resellers with Value Add Server Offerings to SMEs and Enterprise Customers
AUCKLAND, September 12, 2000 - Intel Corporation has announced the Intel* e-Business Server Program, a corporate-wide initiative to train system integrators, value-added resellers, dealers, and Web consultants to effectively recommend the proper e-Business server solution to their small and medium-sized business and enterprise customers.
Sophia Chew, Director of Sales & Marketing, Channel & Distribution for Intel in Asia Pacific said, “The channel is looking for direction as they help customers prepare for e-Business. Regionally, there has been a huge growth in server demand as companies get onto the Internet to conduct businesses, yet many are still using outdated server systems or lack the infrastructure to meet their e-Business needs”.
According to preliminary results from IDC, the Asia Pacific server market posted record revenues of US$2.9 billion in the first half of the 2000, while unit shipment and revenues for entry-level servers grew 38% and 41% respectively year-on-year.
“Servers are critical e-Business platforms,” said Ms Chew. “Yet some businesses are still using desktop PCs as servers. e-Business transactions require servers to be up 24x7x365, and to seamlessly scale up to meet the demands of unpredictable Web traffic. Servers cannot be the bottleneck as competitor’s websites are just a mouse click away. They need
the performance, scalability and availability to meet the intense demands of e-Business.”
Through the Intel* e-Business Server Program, Intel will deliver key benefits to channels and resellers via:
 Configuration Tools - web-based sizing guides, server integration tips, a list of validated components and recommendations to maximise server performance, scalability and availability.
 e-Business Server Technical Training - both web-based and face-to-face server integration and optimisation training for hardware and solutions targeted at third-party software and applications vendors, to train resellers on an entire solution stack. Intel will also be the first major industry vendor to introduce a certification track for e-Business Server Technologies and implementation as part of the Intel Certified
Integration Specialist course, available on Intel’s Online Learning Centre
(http://channel.intel.com/training/olc/course).

 Sales and Marketing support - sales tools and collaterals, pass-through brochures, product briefs and selling guides for the whole range of Intel* server products, an interactive advertisement builder and reference success stories.
 Channels Events - roadshows & seminars targeted at identifying vertical demand segments and new channels, where third-party e-Business solution providers (EBSPs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) showcase their solutions.
 Partnering for Solutions - matchmaking key resellers with EBSPs, web and application developers and ISVs to complement Intel’s hardware server platforms to ensure that solutions (not just hardware platforms) are delivered to customers, as Intel re-aligns its channels initiatives.
In May, Intel launched its e-Business Network in Asia Pacific - a collaborative framework for all Intel Channel Programs and unification of all existing channel members comprising resellers, system integrators, EBSPs and xSPs across APAC. Additionally, Intel’s eServer Builder website (http://www.intel.com/go/serverbuilder) is an important resource
integrating all its various initiatives under the e-Business Server Program. The site will soon add a Server Design Centre, which will enable Intel channel members to size up a customer’s server needs and integrate the appropriate configuration for maximum customer productivity.
Mission Critical Servers for Serious e-Business
Intel’s e-Business Server Program will provide the support and training to resellers to meet the solution needs of small and medium-sized businesses who rely greatly on them to provide complete solutions for their e-business.
“The resultant gain in employee productivity and revenue will more than offset the investment in servers,” said Ms Chew.
An Intel* architecture-based server should contain an Intel* Pentium* III or Pentium* III Xeon* processor with an Intel* server board, server chassis, network adapters, server RAID cards, and server monitoring capabilities. These server building blocks have been designed from inception with performance, scalability and availability features to
support an e-Business solution, which desktop PCs are not able to.
