Media Advisory: Conference On R&D Investment

Published: Mon 19 Jun 2000 03:17 PM
The Government is about to invest another $43.6 million into research, science and technology. This brings the total investment in our innovation system to $474 million a year.
What opportunities will this offer the people of New Zealand?
A conference in Auckland tomorrow may give us the answer.
Delegates will determine where this investment should best to spent. It is crucial that we come up with the right answers now, before New Zealand’s international competitiveness deteriorates any further.
Minister of Research, Science and Technology, Pete Hodgson, will give his vision for research, science and technology and its importance to New Zealanders.
The Conference is organised by the Foundation for Research, Science and
Technology with the support of the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology and the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation.
When: Tuesday & Wednesday, 20-21 June
Where: Sky City, Auckland
