LABOUR SUPPORT FOR NATIONAL CANDIDATE AN HISTORIC SHIFT
The decision of local Labour campaigners to back the National Epsom candidate marks an historic shift in Auckland politics, said National's candidate for Epsom constituency, Richard Worth, today.
"It demonstrates the role that Epsom can play from a strong unified base in leading a renewed focus on Auckland issues in the capital.
"The ACT contender simply has no ability to unite our electorate with the sense of vision, purpose and common sense that Epsom and greater Auckland requires to obtain action in Wellington on the issues that face it today.
"We need rapid and balanced progress on the economy, transport, education and environmental issues. ACT and its Epsom candidate's policies are divisive and extreme.
"It is recognition of this by the majority of our electorate that provides the base for Epsom leadership in Auckland and further afield."
