Prebble Tries a Toke Both Ways
"Showing his ability to bend both ways, Richard Prebble says one week that he will never support legalising cannabis, and the next that cannabis use should be 'reviewed'," observes Libertarianz Spokesman Peter Cresswell.
Being 'prepared to support a review' is about as limp as support of anything ever gets; about as limp in fact as his support for his party's 'will they-won't they' Arts policy.
"One has to wonder what - if any - principles this man has beyond vote pandering," wonders Cresswell. "One has to further wonder what values - if any - he actually believes in, beyond retaining his electoral seat."
If he believes people own their own lives -that they have the right to put into their bodies what they themselves choose - then he should say so. If he doesn't believe people own their own lives, he should say so.
There is no need for a cannabis review. It is a very simple question: "Do people own their own lives or not, Mr Prebble?" Which is it?
