Wellington Young Nationals have announced that after much discussion they will support National with their party vote
this election year, and the election of Annabel Young as a List MP for Wellington.
The Young National's endorsement comes just days after 'Prebble's Rebels' announced they will support Richard Prebble
and ACT in Wellington Central.
"Well, we were wondering about the Rebels there for a bit. And it is pleasing they have decided to support Prebble, who
has the great fortune of sharing a name with this auspicious organisation.", said Divisional Chairman Scott Higham.
Scott Higham commented that despite rumours that Young Nationals were looking at supporting Animals First this election
year, he is confident that a National government will deliver much for young people. "What other party can offer a lower
drinking age, cheaper cars, label clothing and CDs for young New Zealanders?"
"We had to toss up between National, Animals First, and NZ First.
"New Zealand First was immediately ruled out, mainly because of the dopey compulsory military training idea, which means
getting up early. And we felt Animals First were putting animals first -- which we felt was a just a tad selfish."
Wellington Central National list candidate, and former Young National Annabel Young, welcomed the news.
"I am pleased but not totally surprised by the news that Young Nationals will be supporting both National and myself
especially as they are named after me. It is great news for us, and I am confident that Young Nationals will be much
stronger for having finally decided to support us. I wish more
voters would make such an informed decision as the Young Nationals have."
"With election day just weeks away, its now a case of ensuring Young Nationals remember to brush their teeth and comb
their hair each morning, right up until polling day. I have every confidence that Young Nationals can rise to the
challenge", concluded Mr Higham.
