STILL TIME FOR PEOPLE TO ENROL FOR THE ELECTION
The electoral roll for this year’s general election closed for printing last week with 89 per cent of eligible electors enrolled to vote in the election.
New Zealand Post's Electoral Enrolment Centre (EEC) National Manager Murray Wicks said there are still around 300,000 eligible electors who have yet to enrol for the election.
"People can still enrol for the election, however, they will need to cast a special vote on Polling Day. Enrolments will be accepted up to and including Friday November 26, the day before Polling Day.
“With the election now less than a month away, we’re encouraging all remaining eligible electors to urgently enrol. Enrolment forms are available at Post Shops, by phoning 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56) or from the elections website www.elections.org.nz.”
Mr Wicks said some 27,000 people enrolled during the last week before the electoral roll closed for printing with around 10,000 enrolling on the final day.
“A lot of people appear to be leaving it to the last minute to enrol this year. However, time is running out and electors can’t enrol on Polling Day so it’s important that all electors send their enrolment forms in now.”

Note to editors: Final roll total figures by electorate will be available from Monday 8 November.
