Burden of Proof Reversal 'Vomitous Offal'
"Innocent until proven guilty is going out of fashion, it seems," observes Libertarianz Leader Lindsay Perigo.: The IRD were severely chastised by the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry for their culture of intimidation & harassment - one step forward - but in a backward step the committee sadly rejected the idea of reversing the burden of proof so that it rests where British justice says it should - with the accuser. That simple measure would have been the biggest single blow possible against outrageous, arbitrary IRD 'assessments'," says Perigo.
And this same week the Minister of Justice, Tony Ryall is promising that convicted drug dealers and other convicted criminals will have their assets confiscated unless they can prove they were honestly earned, reversing the burden of proof under the Proceeds of Crimes Act. Two steps back!
"Where does one begin with such vomitous offal as this?" wonders Perigo.
"First, drug dealing should not be a crime to start with, since it is an activity of consenting adults. Second, Tony Vile's decree will require not only that someone convicted of a crime be sentenced to whatever the court decrees, but also that he automatically forfeit all his assets unless HE CAN PROVE that they were "honestly earned." Guilty until proven innocent, you see? Third, what would politicians like Vile know about earning anything "honestly"? They whose daily stock-in-trade is deception & coercion, and who live off stolen money! The difference between Vile & the piece of excrement who executed Beverly is mainly legal. There is little significant moral distinction between them."
"Tony Vile's National Socialist government will thankfully be history after this election, but what replaces it will assuredly be worse & may be relied upon to proceed with whatever diabolical legislation Vile is planning. You, meanwhile," warns Perigo," as more & more of your freedom is thus eroded, are like the frog about to be boiled in water, blithely unaware of its fate because the water is being heated so slowly."
"There is still time to jump out. But not much."
