"Jim Neanderton's proposed 'temporary' Hershey Bar tariff demonstrates that Alliance/Labour would take to the Treasury
benches like a fat boy to a chocolate shop," says Libertarianz Finance spokesman Julian Darby. "Eleven weeks out from an
election, and they already have their greedy faces pressed to the window. Taxpayers should take note," says Darby, "that
Neanderton's proposed 5% tariff would only be the start of thieving Alliance hands in their pockets."
"History has amply demonstrated the damage wreaked by tariffs," he says. "To see the consequences of this mindless
thieving, one need only look at Alliance Retard pin-up North Korea, or the results of Muldoonist protectionism. That
Neanderton and those misery infested parasites who support him can so wilfully evade this evidence - and be taken
seriously - is a sad commentary on the mental state of some New Zealanders."
"Neanderton's drivel should serve as a timely reminder to all the politicians and dictators crawling into Auckland for
APEC" suggests Darby. "Tariff's are wrong," he says, "whether they are set at 5% or 50%, or whether they are temporary
or permanent. They involve the government initiating force against its citizens - telling them at the point of a gun to
alter the price of goods they import, and to send the government the balance."
"I encourage the APEC meeting next week to send a sign that they are serious about free trade - remove the shackles on
the productive; remove tariffs."
