Clare Radomske, Candidate, Hutt South
Press Release New Zealand National Party 5/09/99
Hutt South Candidate is delighted to be off the Party List.
"I am determined to win Hutt South as the best candidate, and the piece of paper that I want with my name on it is the
one that goes in the ballot box.
"Winning the confidence of the people and securing their mandate is the basis of our democratic structure. It allows the
elected member to represent the interests of the people and to truly shape policy.
"This election we will be voting by referendum, to reduce the number of MP's. The people of Hutt South want a reduction
in MP numbers. They feel this will reinforce representative democracy, accountability and perhaps trust in our elected
members. Interestingly , it has been the minor party list MP's who have caused 80% of the hassles in the house, and they
will be the first to go.
"The primary loyalty of any MP should be to the people, and if elected , I will take my cue from the people.
"Trevor Mallard is number 12 on the Labour list. He is sleepwalking back into parliament, he does not need the
endorsement of the local people. I do.
"I am quietly working my way through the electorate, introducing myself to the voters, and getting a very positive
response. The feedback I am getting is that people enjoy what I have to offer, they like my style, my experience and my
no nonsense approach to politics.
"With hard work and a bit of luck, I intend to win this seat for the people of Hutt South " , said Clare Radomske
