Rainbow Labour says Capill is out of touch
Michael Wilson and Judie Alison, Co-Chairs of Rainbow Labour, the Labour Party's gay, lesbian and transgender branches, said today that Graeme Capill's reaction to the Discussion paper on same sex relationships was extreme, and the sign of a desperate man.
"Graeme Capill is out of touch with the mainstream which is now accepting of difference and diversity in society. The hysterical edge in his press release is sad," said Michael Wilson.
"While, again, the National government's actions are too little and much later than necessary, it is clear both Labour and National are happy to discuss the issues surrounding same sex relationships. Capill's outrage is becoming increasingly marginalised.
"Further it is not Christian. We support the Rev David Clark's comments today expressing anger at judgmental talk claiming to represent a Christian viewpoint. Graeme Capill's comments only contain hate for gay and lesbian people. As such he has discredited himself, yet again," the Co-Chairs said.
