Human Rights Act Enshrines Wrong Rights
"If a principled government was to amend the Human Rights Act, "says Libertarianz Spokesman Cass Hewitt-Reid, "they should begin by renaming it the Human Wrongs Act, and end by gutting it!" This parliament instead merely tries to avoid the Act's oppressive provisions being applied to itself.
The Act in its current form enshrines bogus rights rather than true rights, and has selectively harassed working New Zealanders with its bullying provisions. Reminds Hewitt-Reid: "Golf clubs have been told who can and can' t play on their course; hairdressers have been told what they should be charging for haircuts; employers have been told whom they may advertise for, whom they may hire - and for how long. This act," she says, "is a discriminatory joke!"
"True rights demands nothing of a person other than that they leave others alone to get on with their lives. This Act's bogus rights instead demand that some working New Zealanders provide others with special benefits- whether those working new Zealanders like it or not."
"Laughably, the Human Wrongs amendments were to apply these same meddling measures to MP's, and to Parliament, but these amendments have no support in the House. "This means that the Houses of Parliament are still free of the dictatorial nannying of the Act - the Beehive still the freest workplace in the land!" Laughs Hewitt-Reid: "How ironic that parliamentarians are uncomfortable with applying to themselves the same restrictions they so happily impose on the rest of us."
