New research announced at Rainbow Excellence Awards, this morning.
The first New Zealand Workplace Equality Study has just been released at the inaugural Rainbow Excellence Awards, being
held at SkyCity today.
The Rainbow Tick Organisation commissioned the research - which was carried out by Big Picture - around workplace
attitudes to Rainbow employees. The organisation is welcoming the opportunity to bring this conversation out into the
public domain. The research was funded by Spark.
Rainbow Tick New Zealand are a not-for-profit LGBTI+ workplace support programme and is celebrating its fifth birthday
this year.
Rainbow Tick Programme Director Michael Stevens says: “This is an excellent result and provides us with invaluable and
robust local data on this subject for the first time. Regardless of people’s gender identity, sexual orientation, or
intersex status, their views have been collected and voices heard,” says.
Awards Organiser Martin King added: “This research is the first of its kind and is hoped will set a benchmark for how
our Rainbow Community are treated in Kiwi workplaces,” he says.
The research polled 1,865 Kiwis across 40 Rainbow Tick organisations.
