Camping Group to seek Freedom Camping infringement info

Published: Wed 24 Apr 2019 11:53 AM
Responsible Campers Association Incorporated has today announced it will actively seek information on why Freedom Camping infringements and fines go unpaid.
To assist in gathering the required information, as sought by Councils and other stakeholders, they have added an infringement tab to their website (www.accreditedcampernz.com).
Spokesperson for the group Mr Bob Osborne says “ the need for real information as to why fines are not being paid has been sought by Councils and other stakeholders for years now.
We know that some are not paid due to the length of time it takes to appeal a infringement in a Democratic Nation, while meantime tourists return to their own Country of residence- the real reasons for many remain unknown.
As we provide ‘evidence based solutions’ and we are without bias, we have stood up to the plate to collect the information so that a picture can gathered.
It continues to amaze us as a new comer to the freedom camping arena, that we have been able to provide simple solutions to many of the problems raised by stakeholders. Our Accreditation program solves no less than 14 problems raised by stakeholders, while also putting the emphasis back on the campers rather than the mode of camping. This makes Freedom Camping fair for all, not just the minority in Motor-homes & Caravans. Education is a major part of the Accreditation program.
In developing the Accreditation program alongside other stakeholders, we have created a New Zealand first. Our ‘Glove-box Guide to Freedom Camping in New Zealand’ was also a first for New Zealand - now in seeking the information over unpaid infringements we have created another New Zealand first.”
Responsible Campers Association Incorporated advice that any personal information collected will not be disclosed to any other party and that non personal information is to be used in a statistical manner only and that no identifying features of any person shall be made public.
The speed at which Responsible Campers Association is able to respond to requests for information and research is unmatched in New Zealand due to not being over-burdened with Policy, Working Groups etc. That their research is shared between stakeholders and to the public has often resulted in others claiming the work of Responsible Campers Association as their own.
