Responding to the Education Minister’s decision to reject an application to change the name of Victoria University of
Wellington, New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union spokesman and VUW alumni Louis Houlbrooke says:
“This is exactly what we have been calling for. The Education Minister should be applauded for his decision to reject
this expensive and unpopular initiative. This will come as a relief to Vic alumni and taxpayers in general, who no
longer have to stump up millions in rebranding costs.”
Disclosure: Taxpayers’ Union chairman Barrie Saunders has been involved with the ‘Stick with Vic’ campaign and in July
submitted against the name change.
