INZ has finally tipped the scale, says former human rights barrister turned journalist, Joseph Cederwall
Having fought the good fight over the years as an immigration and human rights attorney, Cederwall has had enough of
immigration’s schizophrenic and dictatorial incompetency. The latest decision to recklessly hand a foreign criminal
residency status is enough to at least require the PM to immediately sack INZ Minister Lees-Galloway. However,
Cederwall’s latest discovery of the 13 year old INZ case of the forced separation of Harmon and Carolyn Wilfred, beggars
belief at the “cruelty on purpose” committed by INZ.

Cederwall’s Scoop NZ feature article Christchurch investor couple separated by INZ for 3 years? is the first of a series about Harmon and Carolyn Wilfred, a couple who came to New Zealand in 2001 to invest in
business, contribute to New Zealand through charitable activities and ultimately retire; having been deliberately and
systematically destroyed by immigration New Zealand for reasons that can only be described as convoluted and specious.

As a former CIA whistle blower under siege by the US government, not unlike Edward Snowden, Harmon certainly had his
reasons for escaping political persecution to start a new and safe life; and being a senior couple absolutely in love,
Canadian born Carolyn, literally followed her husband to “the ends of the earth” to begin anew down under.
After committing more than $5 Million in New Zealand businesses and charitable contributions through New Zealand NGO’s
and their own charitable trust, by 2004, they were on their way to being accepted into New Zealand’s society by the
local community, members of parliament and business leaders.
Then in late 2004, Cederwall’s article tells the story of further attempts at US persecution through the refusal of the
US consulate to return Harmon’s passport on renewal, and to the necessity of Harmon’s renouncement of his US citizenship
as his only option to preserve his personal safety and freedom. With the US State department’s acceptance of Harmon’s
renouncement, he became stateless on 1 April 2005.
Harmon believes that INZ, in cooperation with the US CIA’s malice aforethought, has deliberately left Carolyn exiled to
him as the proverbial “tethered goat” to unlawfully lure him offshore. When INZ was asked why the Wilfred’s have been
forcibly separated, the compliance officer in charge, Richard Wilson replied, “It’s a matter of State” and vowed that he
would personally see to it that they would never be reunited on NZ soil. Cederwall makes a case that the Wilfred’s
maltreatment in New Zealand has been due to collaboration between successive NZ governments and US agencies dwelling in
the political “swamp”.

Wilfred is imploring the New Zealand government to recognise their UN obligations to provide the agreed
refugee/stateless person’s international protections, opening the opportunity for him and Carolyn to reunite and
continue to peacefully invest and retire in New Zealand.
