WSP Opus has joined the Climate Leaders Coalition (CLC) and is delighted to stand alongside other leading New Zealand organisations who have joined forces to tackle climate change.
Saul Chambers, WSP Opus Manager Sustainability & Climate Change Solutions, is genuinely excited about the opportunity CLC presents to solve the challenging issues around climate change.
“There’s no doubt that we’re in a time of unprecedented change as a business, local and national governments and cities get to grips with climate change, but that also brings the opportunity to collaborate for better outcomes. There’s a lot of positivity about how we can approach solutions and it’s a great time to take a breath and decide how, as a nation, we want New Zealand to be in the future.”
Chambers says that with its long history in shaping New Zealand and leadership in climate change, the CLC is a natural fit for WSP Opus
“We know what’s important to our clients and communities because we’ve been pioneering the infrastructure and foundations they’re built on for the past 148 years. More recently we’ve been working with clients to provide future-ready solutions that are designed to withstand the impacts of climate change.”
Given this, Chambers says it’s vital that WSP Opus walks the talk with sustainability.
“WSP Opus is committed to creating what matters for future generations and a key part of this is zero harm to the planet. That means ensuring we are one of New Zealand’s leading zero carbon businesses.”
As such WSP Opus has committed to setting a public emissions reduction target consistent with keeping well below 2° of warming as specified in the Paris Agreement.
"This will be achieved by meeting our tough and challenging emissions reduction targets, then offsetting the remaining emissions through carbon forestry,” he says.
