Ron Mark’s use of NH90 helicopters for his home commute is stunning in light of previous comments that the aircraft in question are ‘unreliable money guzzlers’, says the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union.
Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson Louis Houlbrooke says, “The idea that any Minister in New Zealand would need to use a taxpayer-funded
helicopter for their personal commute beggars belief. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for Mr Mark, but frankly New
Zealand politicians just aren’t that important.”
“NH90s are incredibly expensive to run. In fact, they were best described best by Ron Mark himself, who last year called
them ‘unreliable money guzzlers’ that cost $1,182 an hour to fly and churn through millions of dollars in parts.”
“We miss the old Ron Mark, who seemed to have concern for taxpayer money. Make that guy the Minister.”
