Let's Do This
Taxpayers’ Union will work with any party to create policy costing unit
The Taxpayers’ Union is welcoming the endorsement of the NZIER in its calls for an independent policy costing unit to be established for the use of all political parties.
Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union, Jordan Williams, says “It has been a long-held view by both the Taxpayers’ Union and the Green Party that a service based on the US Congressional Budget Office, is desirable.”
“The Green Party appear to favour a unit inside Treasury, while we, and the NZIER, lean toward creating the unit as an Officer of Parliament. But that isn't a deal breaker.”
“We’ve got the money and the willingness to work with any MP to get a members’ bill drafted and mount a public campaign to get support for the issue."
"Let’s do this.”
