Little Version of ‘Think Big’ for Gisborne
17 FEBRUARY 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union is slamming Labour Leader Andrew Little’s pledge today to spend $20 million of taxpayers’ money “to enable the construction of a timber prefabrication plant and associated infrastructure in Gisborne”, announced this morning.
The Taxpayers' Union’s Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says, “This is pork barrel politics at its worst. No disciplined economic analysis, no business plan, just a bunch of politicians seeking a photo opportunity and headline. At least in Northland the ‘Bridges’ bribe’ related to infrastructure – this is building industry for industry’s sake.”
“This is a Little version of Think Big. Fine politically, but economically terrifying.”
