Resignation of Mr McCallum – Board member of the ACT Party
The ACT party has accepted the resignation of the Board member and Dunedin North candidate Guy McCallum. He is apparently quitting the Party after hearing Jamie Whyte’s recent speech “Race has no place in the law”.
“The ACT Party has over its history firmly believed that Race has no place in the Law.
It is mischievous of Mr McCallum to think that “Mr Whyte was looking for a "stunt" to improve his standing in political polls”.
Jamie Whyte’s speech came as no surprise to ACT members and they welcomed a reaffirmation of long held party principles on equality before the law and are united behind it.
It would appear that Mr McCallum failed to take the time to understand long held Party principles before joining the Party and putting himself forward as a Board member.
