Collins' Tax Cut Gobbled by Brownlee
Reacting to the announcement from the Minister for ACC that levies on petrol will be cut by 3 cents per litre, Taxpayers' Union Executive Director Jordan Williams says:
“We welcome the reduction in ACC levies, and look forward to more as the accounts become fully funded and the residual component of the levies become unnecessary."
“Unfortunately, while Minister Collins reduces the tax burden on petrol by 3 cents per litre, her colleague, Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee, recently upped petrol duty by the same amount with another 3 cent increase locked in for next year.”
“We hope that this is only the first of what should be many measures announced during the election campaign to reduce the tax burden on New Zealand workers, families and motorists."
