Corporate Welfare Apparatus Now Taking Over Corporate Media
17 JULY 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Taxpayers’ Union is slamming the decision by Callaghan Innovation to use taxpayer money to subsidise commercial media organisation BusinessDesk and buy a journalist for them. Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says:
“This is an outrageous use of taxpayer money. Callaghan funding is meant for science, now they are giving money to a commercial media organisation for favourable coverage.”
“It’s bad enough that Callaghan Innovation are one of the main channels for the Government’s corporate welfare programmes. It’s worse that they are using some of that money to buy off the business media and create a mini-public broadcasting platform."
“What’s next, the Police using public money to pay for police reporters?"
