Coromandel MP Welcomes Robust Water Quality Rules
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson is welcoming new national standards on freshwater quality.
Mr Simpson MP says the changes include minimum water quality standards for New Zealand’s rivers and lakes.
‘Clean, healthy water is crucial for the Coromandel’s economy. We need it for our farming, for our wildlife and to maintain and enjoy our beautiful landscape,’ he said.
Scott Simpson said ‘People need access to clean water for our good health - whether we’re drinking it, growing and cooking our food with it, bathing or swimming in it. I am reassured to know our water supplies will be required to meet these robust, new standards.’
“This is all part of the Government’s drive to improve water quality, as we recognise that a sustainable supply of quality water is critical to our country’s future.’
