Team NZ: Private sector needs to step up – Joyce
Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce told TV One’s Q+A programme that the private sector needs to step up alongside the government to fund Team NZ.
Steven Joyce says he met with the America’s Cup Team NZ board last week at which they asked for more money.
“Yes they did, they said that because of the delays and things they're going to be struggling a bit for the second half of this year, and I said to them that my view was I'm happy to go and talk to my colleagues about it, but my sense was that they'd be seeking to see some private sector money in alongside at this stage.”
On John Banks, Steven Joyce says he will have to make the right decision for his electorate, for his party and for parliament.
“they’ve got to decide how it is they want to look as they go into the election campaign.”
Q+A, 9-10am Sundays on TV ONE and one hour later on TV ONE plus 1. Repeated Sunday evening at 11:35pm. Streamed live at www.tvnz.co.nz
