Selection of a Labour candidate for Tamaki Makaurau
The NZ Council of the Labour Party has resolved to invite further nominations for the Labour candidature in the Tamaki Makaurau seat, with the support of the Tamaki Makaurau Labour Electorate Committee. Nominations must arrive at the Labour Party Head Office by 5pm on Wednesday 28th May 2014; the subsequent selection or confirmation meeting is likely to take place on Sunday 1st June.
The NZ Council has also resolved that it regrets any adverse impact on Shane Taurima’s professional reputation that may have occurred as a result of its decision not to grant Mr Taurima a waiver to contest the candidate selection in Tamaki Makaurau this year. We retain a high regard for Shane's abilities and believe he has a positive future with our Party.
