Welcome to the Civilian Party

Welcome to the Civilian Party
Nation, the Civilian Party of New Zealand is now live.
On this day, four hundred years ago, our ancestors first came to these shores from America. At that time, they saw ahead of them a better and more prosperous life in New Zealand. They did not see the dark clouds of uncertainty and despondency that we see today. They saw light, and a crystal clear horizon glowing on the fruitful landscape that lay before them.
It was an exciting time, in part because there were dragons, but it was also a time of fear and uncertainty, because there were dragons.
But despite that uncertainty, our forebears succeeded in building a nation that was strong, self-sustainable, just, and prosperous. For a time, everything was, as far as we remember it, just fine.
But somewhere along the line, something went wrong.
Nation, we are no longer that nation. Today, we are a nation of injustice and poverty. We are a nation of unemployment and hopelessness. We are a nation of crime. We are a nation where Shelley Bridgeman is not told to go home and focus on learning her alphabets, but rather is given a column, and told to write in the Herald. We are a nation that has lost its way.
But there is still hope for us, New Zealand. Indeed, on this day, the great anniversary of this land’s discovery, we seek to recapture the legacy of our forefathers, and return to the prosperity we once knew.
We seek to build a movement that will take us backwards to the future, and for once in our history, give you a voice. Just a small one; nothing too loud or you’ll get annoying.
We call this movement the Civilian Party.
The Civilian Party is a real political party, but it is not a political party like any you have seen before. It is not a left-wing party or a right-wing party. It is neither left-of-centre, nor right-of-centre. The Civilian Party is up-of-centre, because we believe in moving upwards toward a brighter future, like a moth to a flame. We don’t want to move the country sideways; we want to move it forward.
Now that our website is live, we ask you to begin exploring it.
We ask you to read our full and detailed account of our history and our vision for the future.
We ask you to read our full list of policies, which have been carefully designed, assessed and costed by a dedicated panel of expert.
We ask you to read about the ideas and values that are important to us.
Most importantly, though, we ask you to join us, and become a financial member of our party, so that we might register with the Electoral Commission and receive your votes in September.
Finally, we ask you to look forward to what is still to come. The content and policies on this website are just the beginning, and over the course of the coming days and weeks, we will be announcing new policies, publishing our party rules, and announcing events and candidates for the upcoming general election.
Join with us, and together, we’ll work hard to bring about the concrete, tangible change that our country sorely doesn’t need.
