Kiwibank Fee Action Deadline Tomorrow
Kiwibank customers have until tomorrow to sign up to the Fair Play on Fees campaign before a court deadline prevents their inclusion in the historic case against the bank.
The case, filed last November, alleges that Kiwibank has been unfairly charging exception fees which Fair Play on Fees say are set well above the cost to the bank of a customer’s default.
Lawyers representing the Fair Play on Fees campaign say Kiwibank customers have until midnight on Monday night to ensure they are included in the case. Claimants can register online at www.fairplayonfees.co.nz.
“While we’d like to represent everyone who has been charged these fees, the lack of a class action regime in New Zealand means that people need to sign up if they want receive any compensation through the case,” explained Fair Play on Fees lawyer Andrew Hooker. “The deadline has been set, and it’s Monday.”
Hooker says more than 800 additional Kiwibank customers had registered on the Fair Play on Fees website since the case was issued in November, taking the total number of participants in that case to almost 7,000.
