Leadership of Te Kotahitanga Stood Down Due To Neglect - Urgent Election Called
Kaeo, 23 March 2014 - The Taumata of Ngapuhi have instructed that the leadership of Te Kotahitanga stand down immediately to achieve the best outcome of the Ngapuhi hearings and settlement process.
“The current leadership have neglected their responsibilities over the past two years to keep Te Kotahitanga together“, said Bryce Smith, spokesperson for Te Wakameninga o nga hapu Ngapuhi. “Their neglect has caused serious consequences for hapu they claim to represent who want full and complete hearings within the Waitangi Tribunal process.”
“We believe Te Kotahitanga and Tuhoronuku must both unite. Bringing the groups together will have the best settlement outcome in terms of looking after the environmental concerns on land and sea as well as financial compensation within the Ngapuhi rohe.”
An urgent hui has been called to elect new leadership of Te Kotahitanga at Parawhenua Marae, at 10am Saturday 29 March and of course Tuhoronuku members are invited.
