South Taranaki decision on fluoride

Published: Sun 9 Mar 2014 12:58 PM
South Taranaki decision on local authorities’ power to add fluoride to community water supplies.
The ruling by Justice Hansen was not about fluoride, it was about who has the power to do something. Waikato DHB CEO Mr Craig Climo is way off track in trying to dictate to the Hamilton City Council that adding fluoride should be re-instated immediately and illustrates again that he is happy to trample on people’s right to due process.
“I am still waiting for a response from Mr Climo to specific issues I raised in writing around the material used by the DHB during the Referendum campaign” said Mr Crosbie. “It seems when hard questions are asked the DHB simply resorts to denigration, obfuscation and miss-information to avoid answering”
There is a defined pathway that Hamilton City Council has to follow to reach the point where a decision is made and there is no doubt at all if there is any deviation from that council will be facing legal proceedings.
“I trust that Council will not be railroaded or bullied into making a decision they may well live to regret, given what’s happening globally with the fluoridation issue.” concluded Mr Crosbie
