ACC Renegotiated Useless Scheme Within the Last Month

Despite reports that ACC’s health and safety training programme provided by Business NZ and the CTU won't be continued,
ACC has resigned with the service providers since providing the Taxpayers’ Union material which shows it’s a complete
waste of money.
The contracts released by ACC to the Taxpayers’ Union in December record an ending date of 31 December 2013. Despite an
ACC spokesperson telling media yesterday that ACC decided late last year to can the programme, the Taxpayers’ Union
learned today that the contracts have been extended until 31 December 2014
“ACC’s known since 2008 that the training programme is a waste of money, but has rolled-over the contracts within the
last month."
“Despite the clear evidence of failure, ACC only changed its tune since the Taxpayers' Union publicly exposed the rort
yesterday.”
“It’s not the Taxpayers’ Union who labelled the training scheme a waste of money, it’s ACC’s own experts. They should
scrap it immediately and not wait for the new contracts to expire.”
The Taxpayers’ Union is also backing the Minister for ACC’s reported comments that Business NZ and the CTU should pay
the wasted money back to ACC.
“With such clear evidence that the money did little if anything to improve workplace safety, we think Business NZ and
the CTU are morally obliged to stop wasting this money and compensate ACC levy payers,” concludes Mr Williams.
