International privacy expert to visit New Zealand
International privacy and data protection expert Malcolm Crompton will be in New Zealand to speak at the 2013 CLANZ conference Agents of Influence.
Each year, CLANZ, the in-house section of the New Zealand Law Society, holds a conference focused on issues affecting the in-house profession with data protection and privacy on this year’s agenda.
Media are invited to use Mr Crompton’s visit as an opportunity to speak to him about this topical issue. He will be in New Zealand from today, 13 May, to Friday 17 May.
Currently Information Integrity Solutions managing director Mr Crompton was Australia’s Privacy Commissioner (from 1999 to 2004) and led the implementation of private sector privacy law in Australia.
Mr Crompton led the independent review of ACC with KPMG, after the well-publicised ACC privacy breach of August 2011. This gives him a unique insight into the environment of data protection and privacy in New Zealand.
