Recommended Draft Christchurch City Three Year Plan released
The recommended draft Christchurch City Three Year Plan is being released today with the agenda for next week's Council
meeting.
This is the draft plan the Chief Executive is recommending to the Council.
A workshop for Councillors last week updated them on the timelines and process for preparing and consulting on the draft
Christchurch City Three Year Plan. This follows the public workshops held between April and November 2012, where Council
considered all of the services it provides to the community.
On February 11, Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee and Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker announced a
joint accord deferring the Christchurch City Council's Long Term Plan until 2015 to allow an earthquake recovery
cost-sharing method to be mutually agreed. Instead, the Council is undertaking this new plan, called the Christchurch
City Three Year Plan.
The recommended draft plan released today contains project proposals and financial information that will be debated by
Councillors at a meeting on February 26 and 27, says Chief Executive Tony Marryatt.
"The Council will formally consider the recommended draft plan at this meeting, make agreed changes and then adopt a
draft plan for consultation," says Tony Marryatt.
"The material made public today provides a starting point for the Council's deliberations."
Assuming a draft is adopted on 27 February, the next step is to release the draft Christchurch City Three Year Plan for
public consultation.
A summary document will be distributed to every household in Christchurch just before consultation opens on 16 March.
The full document will be made available via the Council's website, libraries and service centres at this time.
The public consultation period runs from 16 March to 19 April and public information sessions and open days will be held
in different locations around Christchurch.
"We want to hear what you think about the proposals before the plan is finalised and adopted by the Council from 24 to
26 June 2013," says Tony Marryatt.
