In partnership with Morphum Environmental, The Sustainability Society is bringing Sara Parkin OBE Founder of Forum for the Future UK to New Zealand for a series of talks on Leadership for Sustainability.
These talks are targeted at managers within local government, engineering, planning, architecture, product development and science innovation who are leading their companies into a resilient and sustainable future.
Wednesday 28 November - 5.30pm Cocktails with keynote lecture at 7pm. Part of the Auckland Conversations series with Auckland Council at the University of Auckland, Faculty of Engineering.

Thursday 29 November - A full-day (Auckland) workshop where Sara will run a deeper discussion on Sustainability: Future proofing in uncertain times
A fast-track, participatory workshop that picks up on two of the key ‘navigational’ tools used by Forum for the Future: the Five Capitals Framework and Future scenarios and featuring a workshop session on the latter.

Sara Parkin (OBE) who is a Director of Forum for the Future and has been an active member of the Natural Environment Research Council. Sara is the author of The The Positive Deviant: Leadership for sustainability in a perverse world
Sara Parkin speaks to a number of Auckland Plan strategies across the sustainability spectrum. Forum for the future has established itself as a thought leader; changing the way leading companies and sectors operate. They have assisted governments, cities and public service providers to understand how to develop sustainable public services which offer a better quality of life to the people they service.
Sara Parkin OBE is a Founder Director of Forum for the Future (1995-). She is also a Trustee of the St Andrews Prize (1998-), sits on the board of the European Training Foundation (2009-) and and advises on science in society for the Living With Environmental Change research programme (2009-).
Recently she has completed terms on the boards of the Natural Environment Research Council (2003-2009) and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (2003-2009). She sits on the Advisory Committee of the Finance South East Community Generation Fund (2011-).
After starting her working life as a nurse, in various roles she has campaigned for the environment and sustainable development for over 40 years, including playing leading roles in the UK Green Party and international green politics during the 1970s and 1980s. She has served terms on the boards of New Economics Foundation (1994-1995),Groundwork (1997-1999) and Friends of the Earth (1996-2002) and written several books, the latest being The Positive Deviant: Leadership for sustainability in a perverse world published by Earthscan in July 2010.
Sara is an honorary companion of the Institution of Civil Engineers and of the Institute of Energy, and became a Founding Fellow of the Engineering Council in 2009. In 2001 she was awarded an OBE for services to education and sustainability.
