‘Beast’ dilemma compounded by liberal-lunacy says Victim advocate
The dilemma of what to do with the Beast of Blenheim is the result of years of liberal policy implementation says New
Zealand’s largest privately funded Victim advocacy organization.
The Sensible Sentencing Trust was commenting after Wanganui Council's bid to stop serial sex offender Stewart Murray
Wilson [The Beast] from moving into the community was dismissed after Judge Ron Young declined a judicial review into
his release.
Trust Spokesman Garth McVicar said the Beast of Blenheim shambles was self-inflicted by years of brainless legislation
based on the assumption offenders like the Beast could be treated and rehabilitated.
“The Beast hasn’t slipped through some previously unknown loop-hole in the law, the legislation that means he has
reached ‘sentence end’ and must be released is a man-made disaster.”
“This is a hangover from the days when the liberal offender friendly mentality was routine and victims were surplus to
requirements. Victims certainly didn’t fit the nutty theory the liberal-lunacy promoted.”
“The fact that a sexual predator of Wilson’s ilk can even reach ‘sentence end’ is a direct reflection on this lunacy and
weak law makers.”
“The fact that this ‘Beast’ will be released at enormous cost to the tax-payer is evidence of gutless Governments of the
past who have not had the gumption to stand up to this liberal-lunacy.”
“The fact that one absolute parasite such as the Beast can hold Parliament, Corrections Department, Parole Board and
every other Government agency entrusted with the safety of the community to ransom is a direct product of
liberal-lunacy.”
Mr. McVicar said he congratulated Maori Party co-leader Turiana Turia for supporting her community in its bid to stop
the Beast being released in Wanganui.
“We urge National Party M P Chester Borrows to join forces with the Maori Party to introduce urgent legislation to
parliament to prevent this debacle ever occurring again.”
“The National Party got elected on a promise to protect the community and get tough on crime; we would expect the M P
for Wanganui [Chester Borrows] to introduce urgent legislation to Parliament to prevent a recurrence of this fiasco.”
“Public protection and Victim safety must always come before the so called ‘rights’ of offenders.”
