Ministry of Justice pay rise turned down by PSA
The Ministry of Justice said that court staff would have been able to receive a pay rise if its offer had been put to
PSA members.
“It is surprising that the PSA questioned why court staff could not receive a pay rise when we had offered both a lump
sum payment and a pay rise,” says Tony Fisher, General Manager District Courts.
“The answer is the PSA chose not to put the Ministry’s offer to its members,” he says.
“The Ministry’s offer was a good one given the tough economic context. Exactly the same pay offer was this week accepted
by the National Union of Public Employees,” Mr Fisher says.
“Media comment about workers being denied a pay rise is disingenuous,” he says.
“We made such an offer which the PSA refused to put before its members.”
