Residents Action Movement (RAM) Press Release
The Residents Action Movement (RAM) has decided to endorse Green Party candidate Russel Norman in the upcoming Mount
Albert by-election.
"Russel is standing up for issues in Mount Albert that matter," said RAM Auckland Chairman Curwen Rolinson.
"His stances on the ill conceived Waterview Connection, public transport and community representation make him the best
choice of available candidates in the election.
"On the other side, you have Labour and National offering candidates who lack the political integrity to stand up for
what matters.
"Despite the rhetoric, in reality they're two wings of a single party - the LabNats!
"We are strongly opposed to the destruction of hundreds of houses for a huge motorway construction project.
"RAM wants power taken away from big party politicians and put back in the hands of ordinary people.
"A victory for Norman will give encouragement to people to stand up to the market-driven policies of the LabNats,"
Curwen Rolinson said
The Residents Action Movement (RAM) was formed 2003 as a voice for frustrated Aucklanders. Since then RAM has run a
number of campaigns and contested several elections at a local and national level. Some notable successes include the
election of an Auckland Regional Councillor in 2004 during the Auckland Rates Revolt, receiving 120,000 votes in the
2007 local body elections and gaining tens of thousands of signatures and extensive mainstream media coverage with our
GST-off-food petition in 2008.
