Libz Welcome Lift From The Gloom
Libertarianz leader Richard McGrath commended National's decision to overturn the ban on incandescent light bulbs, saying it represented a move away from the Nanny State attitude that was a hallmark of the Clark administration.
"New Zealanders will not only be able to adequately illuminate their dwellings during the hours of darkness, they will have available to them a choice that was denied to them by Helen Clark," said Dr McGrath.
"Whether to use traditional light bulbs, or to opt for the low wattage variety, should be a matter for each household to decide for themselves," he added. "Politicians have no right to impose their views on the rest of us, even if they mean well."
"Hopefully, this minor piece of deregulation is a taste of things to come. Libertarianz wants enforcement of private property rights across the board. In the meantime, this is a good start - well done Gerry Brownlee!"
