Blighs Road Level Crossing Incident
Last night at approximately 1235am a Trans Rail freight train driver required to take emergency braking action.
The driver had noticed obstacles placed on the tracks in front of him at the Blighs Road Crossing .
The train hit the railway track irons that had been placed on the railway line.
This has caused extensive damage to the relay box at the side of the lines and to the train itself.
Police are interested in hearing from people who may have seen anyone in the Blighs Road area late last evening ( 11.12.08) , or any person who has information in relation to persons that may have been involved in this deliberate act of placing obstacles on the railway line that could have easily resulted in someone being killed.
