Conviction and sentencing statistics released
The Ministry of Justice has released the latest annual compilation of criminal conviction and sentencing statistics, covering the 1998-2007 calendar years.
This is a comprehensive compilation of statistics on criminal court proceedings and convictions, providing useful data on long-term trends for government agencies and the general public.
The data include:
prosecutions and convictions
sentencing
custodial sentences and remands
community-based sentences
monetary penalties.
The data is available in the table builder section of the Statistics New Zealand website www.statistics.govt.nz and a summary is available on the Ministry of Justice website http://www.justice.govt.nz/pubs/reports/index.html
