One Voice for New Communications Regiment
Linton Military camp is to gain a new resident unit with the formation of the 1st New Zealand Signals Regiment.
The creation Army's newest Regiment is being marked by a parade at Linton Military Camp on Monday 1 Dec beginning at
10:30am. The parade will be reviewed by Major General Lou Gardiner, Chief of Army.
Managing rapidly evolving technology, increases in recruiting, and the requirement to able to provide effective
communications in a large number of different environments will provide a challenge for the new Headquarters.
The formation of the Regiment will bring together the two Signals Squadrons from Burnham and Linton, as well as the
Linton based Command and Control Battle Laboratory, under a single command.
The regiment will have responsibility for personnel and training, ensuring that people and equipment are available when
and where needed.
"The role of the Regiment headquarters will be to ensure that we have the right people, in the right places, to be able
to implement the changes in communications technology that are critical to success in any part of the world we can
expect to be deployed" says Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Kent Collard.
