“For how long do the major parties think they can keep lying to New Zealanders about the Emissions Trading Scheme?” asks
ACT Environment Spokesperson, Kath McCabe.
“National and Labour have justified the imposition of the ETS on the basis that our trading partners in Europe are
putting meaningful schemes in place and New Zealand must follow suit”, said Kath McCabe.
“The N.Z. public has been lied to:
The European Union is not spear-heading an Emissions Trading Scheme.”
“Nine EU countries have determined that they will not kill employment and industry for the sake of contested climate
change science.” "The Europeans are dumping ETS because it costs jobs."
ACT Environment Spokesperson, Kath McCabe, said that “not only are none of our major trade competitors embracing
penalising their primary industry but the major supporters of the ETS worldwide realise that killing jobs during a
credit crunch is amoral.”
“All the Treasury reports show that emissions are going to decline as a result of the credit crunch. This means jobs.
ACT will not support New Zealand leading the world in losing jobs and killing off our productive industry.”
“Those who do not want New Zealand jobs destroyed by wish to see jobs numbers in New Zealand increasing have one choice.
"The National Party wants to tinker with the ETS. That is a mistake.”
The ETS will cost 23,000 new jobs every year says a study by the NZIER.
But it will bring no environmental benefit.
There is only one party that wants to scrap totally the Emissions Trading Scam.
That is the ACT party.
To get rid of the ETS voters should party vote ACT."
