Ballot Box to voice people of the nation
Triangle and Stratos Television are looking forward to delivering a hand crafted masterpiece called Ballot Box on
election night.
This two hour special will run from 11pm to 1am on November 8 and will be hosted by two masters of current affairs
broadcasting, Edward Rooney and David Beatson.
Chief executive Jim Blackman says Ballot Box will provide the public with a live snapshot of the final results from the
nation on voting day.
“We have chosen to cover just the closing stages of the election so we can bring answers that people want and that
really count – the overall results. We expect this to be spontaneous television with people dropping in to give their
opinions and assessments throughout, he says.
“While Ballot Box will be broadcast live from Grey Lynn in Auckland it will include discussion and comments from
election booths around the country so we can reflect on the important issues, views and opinions that face the electors
on this important day.”
Edward Rooney and David Beatson will also interview various Auckland candidates as the polls are finalised and the
winners and losers are announced.
Edward Rooney hosts Scrutiny, a current affairs show that screens on Triangle
Television on Wednesdays at 7.30pm. David Beatson will be remembered by many viewers for presenting and interviewing on
television news and current affairs shows like Compass, Gallery, Eyewitness News and Foreign Correspondent. He recently
made a return to television moderating a debate between the minor parties on both Triangle and Stratos.
“Edward and David will provide two hours of entertaining and enlightening television,” says Jim.
Triangle Auckland is on UHF Channels 41, 42 and 52 and in the Wellington area UHF Channels 40 and 41. Triangle
Television is now also available to Christchurch viewers via TelstraClear cable (Channel 50).
Ballot Box can also be seen on Triangle’s sister channel Stratos Television, which broadcasts nationwide via Sky Digital
(Channel 89) and Freeview (Channel 21).
