Labour candidate launches YouTube music video
Dunedin South Labour candidate Clare Curran has launched a YouTube music video targeted at young people and Labour
voters who may be considering changing their vote this election.
The video features a song written and performed by Dunedin musician Shakes (Chris Prendergast). It was filmed in King
Edward Street and St Clair, parts of the Dunedin South electorate. It also features footage of Helen Clark’s recent
visit to Otago University.
The song is called ‘Hope You Don’t Change Your Mind’.
“When I first heard Shakes play it, I thought it was a timely message to undecided voters”, Ms Curran said.
“The video is a bit of a home movie really. It stars some of the great people of Dunedin South and a few of my family
and friends”, Ms Curran said.
“I hope it helps convey a positive message about the Dunedin South electorate,” Ms Curran said.
“With the number of young people who are not enrolled to vote, I also hope it helps engage them in the political
process”, Ms Curran said.
“I would urge more young people to participate in shaping the future of their country by enrolling to vote,” Ms Curran
said.
People can still get on the roll right up to midnight on Friday 7 November via the Elections New Zealand website.
