Winston Peters Must Fight For Electorate Seat In Tauranga At Political Debate Tonight
At the last of Maxim Institute’s NZ Votes political debates, in Tauranga tonight, Winston Peters will be fighting to win an electorate seat. Losing Tauranga last election was a huge blow for NZ First, and the survival of both Mr Peters and his party may depend on the outcome in Tauranga. Recent inquiries and allegations about Mr Peters and NZ First make his opportunity to face the voters of Tauranga even more crucial.
Tonight, alongside a number of other candidates, Peters will answer questions from local people. Tonight’s event will be held at 7.30pm, at Baycourt, Corner Durham and Wharf Streets, Tauranga. The candidates taking part are:
ACT: David Garrett
Green: Karen Summerhays
Kiwi: Larry Baldock
Labour: Anne Pankhurst
Maori Party: Te Orohi Paul
National: Simon Bridges
NZ First: Rt Hon Winston Peters
United Future: Judy Turner
Those attending the debates around the country have been asking questions on a wide range of topics. Some of the issues people have been focusing on include: law and order, the Emissions Trading Scheme, taxes, KiwiSaver and the current economic crisis.
