Wellingtonians get two MPs for the price of one
Grant Robertson, the Labour Candidate for Wellington Central has welcomed confirmation by Green Party MP Sue Kedgley
that she is only seeking the Party vote this election as this opens the way for her supporters to give their electorate
vote to Grant.
"Wellington Central has the chance to have two MPs committed to a sustainable future. Sue is only seeking the party vote
and on current polling will be returned to Parliament from the Green Party list," Grant said.
Grant and Sue will spend lunchtime on Tuesday serving Wellingtonians their greens at Kapai salads in the BNZ Centre Food
Court.
"The Wellington Central seat is a direct contest between me and the National Party candidate. If Wellington Central
voters elect me as their MP, I will be able to work with Sue to help build a sustainable Wellington," Grant said.
Maddy Drew, who cast an advance vote last week because she will be out of Wellington Central on polling day confirmed
today that she had voted the Green Party and for Grant Robertson.
Maddy has set up a Facebook page "Greens for Grant Robertson" where she is encouraging anyone voting for the Green Party
in Wellington Central to vote for Grant.
“If you are a Green Party voter in Wellington Central, it's important to split your vote to have the best possible
effect on election day. I support Sue Kedgley but voting for her to be my candidate would practically be a vote for the
National party candidate - Stephen Franks. I've voted for Grant Robertson - the Labour candidate,” Maddy said.
"My priorities as MP for Wellington Central will be to work alongside the diverse communities of the electorate. I am
committed to advocating for more reliable, accessible and affordable public transport and improvements to the energy
efficiency of our housing stock. I will also stand up for the public services and public servants of this city," Grant
said.
